Michael L. Kenaga

I’m the Director of Patents at IpHorgan, and am a registered patent attorney with over thirty years of experience in the field. A large part of what I do is help manage risks for our clients and provide meaningful service tailored to their needs. I always work with their best interests in mind to provide them with a truly valuable service.

Before law school, I worked as an electrical engineer for a telecom company and a military and government contractor. Over those eight years I gained valuable experience in controls, telecommunications, and aviation & aerospace, which has helped me better understand the challenges and needs of businesses I work with.

I’m highly skilled in opinion drafting and counsel large and mid-sized corporations on patentability and protection options. I assist clients in protecting their technology, while helping them to avoid inadvertently conflicting with competitors’ patented rights.

I, along with the IpHorgan team, was one of the first to file Inter Partes Review, and have successfully prosecuted and handled several proceedings in response to patents being asserted against our clients. I’ve also spent 20 years leading the intellectual property due diligence for clients considering acquiring a new company or product line. I routinely identify issues, and provide clients with the information needed to adjust, accommodate or negotiate as needed.

I’m active in the industry and regularly lecture on issues related to U.S. and foreign patent practice. Outside of my role at IpHorgan I enjoy hiking, tennis with my family and finding any opportunity to travel.
